After choosing to resubmit my coursework for A2 level media, I thought it would be best to redo my music video as I felt it was the weakest part of my previous courswork. By doing this I will later have to re-evaluate my work. This time however, I have no plans to redo or edit my two minor tasks- the DVD cover and website. Before choosing a new song I thought it would be best to almost re-evaluate my previous video, so that I have a clear idea on what I need to improve this time round, when it comes to refilming and re-editing the new video.
After watching the video back it was obvious that a lot of things could have been done better. For one thing, I have decided that my next video will definitely contain some sort of storyline, as my previous video lacked in any sort of direction. This time round I have ensured that I will have access to better equipment, for examole a tripod which will make certain that the majority of my shots (excluding ones involving movement, such as tracking) will be as steady. After looking more at the editing I did in my existing video, I realised that it was fairly simplistic, with basic cuts, and then a fade. On my next video, I plan on experimenting more with shots, using different effects, which I will hopefully document in my blog.
When it comes to choosing a new song to put a video to, I am looking for a video which I can add a story to, because the lyrics tell a story, something that contains some emotion, that people can truly relate to.
The video below shows my previous video to the song Shoot the Runner by Kasabian. However, the quality of this video is unfortunately not very good, due to the way it was exported and compressed from movie maker.
